Addition & Subtraction

  1. Use counters.
  2. Introduce the meaning of + as ‘put together’, and – as ‘take away’.
  3. Treat it like a game. Teach them the rule of the game as such: 1st number tells you how many blocks you need to put in front of you. + means put more, – means take away.
